South Bay cohort
Laura Rodriguez (she/her/hers) is a first-generation graduate from UC Santa Cruz, where she studied both Biology and Anthropology. She is currently working at Watsonville Wetlands Watch educating and promoting the importance of wetlands and the natural world to the youth of Watsonville. During her free time, she enjoys hiking, stargazing, and tending to her small collection of plants.
As a kid, she loved to spend time in her mom’s garden “talking” to the plants. Due to her early curiosity and connection with the garden she understands the fundamental importance of exposing young kids to the natural systems around them. She is excited to participate in OEI where she hopes to improve her educational skills to further engage and encourage the youth of the Pajaro Valley to explore and understand the natural systems around them.
