Beatriz Cañas is a youth advocate and urban environmental educator working at the Chicago Botanic Garden managing the Science Career Continuum. She is also the Project Lead for Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Accessibility at the organization. Her work is centered on creating positive, safe and culturally relevant environmental experiences for marginalized communities. She was named one of the North American Association for Environmental Education 30 under 30 in 2019 for her work in environmental pathway programs and racial equity. She holds a M.S. from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor School of Natural Resources and Environment in Behavior, Education, Communication and Environmental Justice.
