Bethany Humphrey

Bethany Humphrey was born on an island off the coast of Maine. Her experiences growing up mixed-race in a small, rural fishing town inspired her interests in both the environment and in empowering people whose voices often go unheard. She has seen firsthand the ways climate change threatens communities’ wellbeing and survival. She firmly believes that climate change solutions should be designed by and center the voices of people historically excluded from the environmental sector. Bethany has worked in youth leadership, education research, land stewardship, natural resource management, and science communications. When not at work, she enjoys hiking, roller skating, reading, and spending time by the ocean.
