Jose Munoz (he/him) is a lifelong resident of the Inland Empire. He earned a degree in history, which led to his employment at a state park. This experience expanded into a fulfilling career with the Department of Fish and Wildlife. Growing up with parents from Mexico, who experienced a more organic connection to nature through their cultural background, Jose encountered a difference in recreation compared to the American context. Here, nature is often managed and regulated, creating a slight disconnect from his earlier experiences. However, with the support of state mechanisms, friends, and mentors, he successfully immersed himself in nature. Jose’s ultimate goal is for everyone to enjoy the benefits of our collective efforts.
