Vail (they/she) grew up in Boise, Idaho and attended Western Washington University where they completed a B.S. in Environmental Science with a minor in Education and Social Justice. Their current role as an Education Specialist at the Monterey Bay Aquarium is an attempt at blending these genres of work, and continues to show them the complexities of seeking justice in environmental institutions. Vail is eager to learn more about their role as a white educator in supporting movements for land, water, and food justice and accessibility to natural spaces. Apart from their work, Vail is a certified Play Outside Kid™ (e.g. looking for bugs, petting dogs, riding their bike, tossing the ball, staring into space, eating ice cream).
