Erika (she/they) was born and raised in the Bay Area but also had the opportunity to live all over Northern California, Southern Spain, and the Basque Country. Erika graduated with a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies: Global Cultural at Cal Poly Humboldt and is currently enrolled at the University of San Francisco pursuing an MA in Human Rights Education. Recently, she has served as an instructor for GirlVentures during the summer of 2022. She has previous experience as an assistant instructor, both in the classroom and in the field, as well as prior employment in outdoor retail and the non-profit sphere. Notably, Erika had the opportunity to partake in Justice Outside’s Rising Leaders Fellowship (RLF) in 2021. She is excited to return to JO as a Program Assistant for the Outdoor Educators Institute (OEI) 2022 cohort amidst her studies. When not working on her thesis, you can find Erika climbing rocks, dipping her feet into the ocean, or hiking a beautiful trail.
