Yang Soua (he/him) is a project manager working for a local nonprofit organization combating food issues such as food insecurity, food waste, and food access. This includes working closely with young children to teach them about their local food system with hand-on educational opportunities on a community garden and farm. Yang Soua is a first-generation Hmong American who was born and raised in Fresno, California. He is also the first person from his family to graduate from college when he earned his BA from CSU Fresno. As a child of political refugees, navigating two worlds was difficult and confusing but something that always brought him peace was the outdoors. He enjoys spending time in nature with friends and family and is always up for a spontaneous adventure. Iced coffee, boba, and the smell of wet dirt after the rain are some of his favorite things. Yang Soua is excited to participate in the OEI Fresno cohort and hopes to have many collaborations that are meaningful that will increase his knowledge and skills to combat social injustices in his surrounding neighborhoods and with good faith, a larger global community.
