Park Poetics encourages young people to reclaim relationships with outdoor spaces and speak to their experience. This is a program within a developing organization that engages the connection of natural environments and creative internal process. Park Poetics stewards culturally relevant teachings about relationship to land and how necessary it is to protect green spaces in our communities. Creative expression through spoken word, mixed media, and storytelling as a form of resistance are utilized to empower youth to share their truths. By designing a platform to be outside and support creative healing practices, we hope to build the beloved community that centers voices of Black and Indigenous People of Color. This is a key pathway for thriving in this world of ever- changing landscapes and to take an active role in our own health and wellness. Stay tuned for the organization name reveal and launch!
